This is a long flexible tube that is inserted all the way along the vein up the arm and into the chest. It is being used to deliver chemotherapy drugs to treat carcinoma of the breast. The drip line for the drugs is attached at right. A PICC line can be left in for weeks or months,removing the need for frequent needle insertions,which can damage veins
