Nipple dressing,12 weeks after breast reduction surgery. The dressing is made from silicone gel, providing a soft, soothing covering to protect the wound while it heals. The gentle pressure applied by the dressing will also prevent the formation of keloid scars (enlarged, itchy scars). The dressing is designed for this operation. The circular wound surrounds the nipple, with part of the wound continuing down the breast beneath the nipple. This allowed excess fat, skin and tissue to be removed from the breast, followed by the nipple being replaced on the smaller breast. Here, the wound is inflamed and is developing into a scar.
