Abdominal adhesion surgery. Image 4 of 7. Endoscope view of surgical instruments cutting adhesions between the omentum and the wall of the uterus (centre, pink) during laparoscopic surgery. The omentum is a membranous sac that hangs down from the stomach, covering the intestines. Adhesions are growths of fibrous (scar) connective tissue formed as a response to tissue trauma. They often result from abdominal surgery. If the adhesions cause severe pain or cause dysfunction of the reproductive system they are removed surgically. Laparoscopic surgery is keyhole surgery of the abdomen. For a sequence of the surgery see M551/388 to M551/394 | |
