Blood sampling. Hand of a doctor using a syringe to take a blood sample from the radial artery of a patient's wrist. The doctor's fingers are being used to locate the artery. The blood sample will be subjected to many different tests to confirm a diagnosis or to identify a disease. Sampling from an artery is less common than from a vein, but may be used to check the oxygen content of the blood. Photographed at St Richard's Hospital,Chichester,England | |
