Repaired muscle injury. X-ray of the elbow of a 47-year-old man, showing implants (bright white, centre left) inserted to repair a biceps muscle that was torn in an accident. The lower arm bones are the ulna (bottom left) and the radius (upper left). The upper arm bone is the humerus (right). The biceps muscle runs along the front of the upper arm from the shoulder to the elbow, attaching to the radius in the lower arm. The biceps functions in raising the lower arm. It was torn near its point of insertion on the radius and implants were needed to surgically reattach the muscle. See M330/1122 for an image of this patient prior to surgery | |
