MODEL RELEASED. Facial palsy due to nerve damage after the removal of a neurofibroma tumour from a 14 year old boy's head. The tumour was due to neurofibromatosis,a genetic disease caused by a mutation on a chromosome. It causes the development of multiple neurofibromas, benign tumours that develop from the Schwann cells that surround nerves. A palsy or muscle weakness can often result from nerve damage, and can lead to a lack of control over the region that the nerve supplies. There is no cure for the condition | |
