This is a common disorder of middle aged and elderly people in which the normal process of bone formation is disrupted. Bones are weaker,thicker and deformed. The disease is also called osteitis deformans and usually affects only a limited area of the skeleton. Such changes in the skull can lead to leontiasis (lion-like appearance) and inner-ear damage leading to deafness,tinnitis,vertigo or headaches
