MODEL RELEASED. Osgood-Schlatter disease. Lump beneath a 14 year old boy's patella (kneecap) caused by Osgood-Schlatter disease. The painful lump is due by the quadricep muscle in the thigh pulling on the patellar tendon, causing it to pull away from the tibia (shin bone). Osgood-Schlatter is common in active teenagers, especially boys after a growth spurt. Treatment is with a reduction in activity and analgesic drugs. The condition goes away when the child is fully grown | |
