Arteritis. Coloured coronal (frontal) magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) scan of diseased arteries (dark pink) in the legs of a patient with arteritis. This is a disease where the arteries become inflamed. The blood flow has been distorted by the progress of this disease. The arteries of the leg originate from the iliac arteries of the groin (brown, top centre). The two iliac arteries are seen branching from their common origin in the aorta (not seen),the body's major artery. The feet (brown, lower centre) are also seen. MRA is a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technique that highlights blood vessels without the need for X- rays or the injection of a radio-opaque dye | |
