MODEL RELEASED. Cornea ulcer and rubeosis. Blind and bloodshot eye of a 83-year-old man with rubeosis iridis (also called rubeosis glaucoma),where abnormal blood vessels have formed over the iris. Rubeosis iridis is seen only in patients with severe glaucoma, caused by a build up of fluid within the eyeball. The cornea is the transparent layer covering the iris (brown) and pupil (black). An ulcer (green ring) has also developed, possibly as a result of the rubeosis. It has been highlighted using fluorescin,a yellow dye that turns green when absorbed by eye lesions. For the eye before dyeing, see M155/612 | |
