MODEL RELEASED. Infected skin cancer scar. Infected scar on the chest of a 63 year old man 2 weeks after surgery to remove a squamous cell carcinoma. Squamous cells are flat scale-like cells in the upper layers of the skin. Squamous cell cancer is the second most common type of skin cancer. Most cases arise from pre-cancerous lesions known as solar keratoses,which are caused by sun damage. It mostly affects the elderly and is most common in men.
