| Secondary bone cancer. Gross specimen of a spine with a metastatic (secondary) malignant (cancerous) tumour. The cancer has spread (metastasised) from a primary cancer of the liver. The green tissue (centre) is an area of bile producing cells that have migrated to the spine from the liver. Spread to the spine causes great pain and the bones have a tendency to fracture. The prognosis is very poor. Treatment is with radiation therapy and chemotherapy | |
