| Angiodysplasia of the ileum,pill camera image. Angiodysplasia is a condition in which blood vessels in the wall of the intestines become deformed,forming lesions that bleed into the intestine. An angiodysplasia lesion is seen at lower left (red). The ileum is the last part of the small intestine. Blood loss can lead to anaemia,which may require transfusions. If the lesions are localised in one area,removal of that part of the intestines may treat the condition,but in many cases the lesions are widespread and that is not viable.
