Colocasia bobone disease virus. Coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of virus particles (virions) of the colocasia bobone disease virus (CBDV). This plant virus is thought to be a rhabdovirus. It was first identified in 1973 in the taro plant (Colocasia esculenta),a plant cultivated as a food crop. Symptoms are brittle leaves and severely stunted growth. The virus is transmitted by the planthopper insect Tarophagus proserpina. It is found in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.
