Here,Professor White uses a fine probe to unearth a human fossil during a 1978 expedition lead my Mary Leakey at Laetoli in Tanzania. The discovery by Professor White some 16 years later of the new species Australopithecus ramidus provides the oldest "missing link" yet (dated 4.4 million years ago) between early humans and our common ape ancestor. Australopithecus ramidus was found at Aramis in Ethiopia. Professor White works at the Laboratory of Human Evolutionary Studies,University of California,Berkeley,USA | |
