Portrait of Willy Johnson, inventor of the 'Goggle Vox' personal TV system, wearing a prototype of his 'headgear television'. 'Goggle Vox' uses two miniature liquid crystal TV screens, one in front of each eye,and stereo earphones. The whole assembly weighs just 400 grammes. As the screens are so close to the eyes, the wearer has the feeling of 'wrap-around' vision. Small magnifying lenses are required in the headset to allow the eyes to focus. To prevent the image pixels becoming too noticeable, the screens are coated with 'Microsharp',a film-like material that optically 'smooths' the image. 'Goggle Vox' may also be used for videos or computer games | |
