Antoine Francois Jean Claudet (1797-1897),French photographer and artist. A student of Louis Daguerre,Claudet held a share in daguerrotype technology and was one of the first in England to use it to create portraits. He developed and improved the process,and set up several studios around London for his photographic business. He invented the photographometer for measuring the intensity of photogenic rays,the focimeter for determining a perfect focus,and the stereomonoscope,allowing several people to view an image at once.
