Giant petrel. Researcher noting the incubation pattern of a giant petrel (Macronectes sp.). Its eggs will hatch after about 60 days incubation and the chick will need to be fed for the next four months. This seabird has a large wingspan of up to 2 metres. It catches fish at sea and scavenges on carrion on land. Giant petrels are also called stinkers,as they will vomit a smelly blob of food and oil at any perceived threat.
