DNA electrophoresis. DNA (DeoxyriboNucleic Acid) samples being separated by electrophoresis through an agarose gel. Blue and violet stains running across the image are dyes that indicate the position of DNA fragments within the gel. DNA samples are separated by size using an electric current. Smaller fragments will move faster through the gel and become separated from larger fragments. Different sized fragments can then be visualised using Ultra-Violet (UV) light. DNA agarose gel electrophoresis is a common method used in genetics experiments such as DNA fingerprinting or cloning of human DNA | |
