Wall paintings,tomb of Queen Nefertari. These paintings are found in the tomb's first east side annexe. The main wall portrays Nefertari (white robes) presenting scrolls to the to the Egyptian god Thoth. In Egyptian mythology,Thoth is the inventor of writing and a scribe to the gods. He is depicted as a man with the head of an ibis.On the far right wall,Nefertari is portrayed offering a gift of food and drink to the gods. Neferatri was the first wife of the Egyptian pharaoh Ramses II. Her tomb in the Valley of the Queens,Thebes,Egypt and is the best preserved and most ornately decorated of all known tombs. It was rediscovered in 1904 by the Italian archaeologist Ernesto Schiaparelli,but has been closed to the public since 2003 | |
