Temple at Philae,Egypt. The complex of temples at Philae was built over a period of 800 years from around 700 BC. This is the temple dedicated to the Ancient Egyptian goddess Isis. This entrance is at the side of the temple. The main, front, entrance is through the pylon, the top of which is seen at upper centre. The temple is made of sandstone. From 1977-1980,the temples of Philae were rescued from the rising waters of the Nile (rising due to the Aswan High Dam) and rebuilt on a higher island nearby | |
