Regenerating forest. Aerial view of a forest in various stages of regrowth after being clear-cut at different times. Clear-cut forestry involves cutting down every tree in a certain area, rather than selecting only the largest. This method allows the soil to recover faster and the forest to be replanted more rapidly. However, destruction of the original old growth forests and replacing them with single species plantations (monocultures) results in a massive loss of biodiversity.
