Titanophoneus,artwork. Titanophoneus (meaning titanic murderer) lived during the Late Permian (255-220 million years ago). It belongs to the Therapsida order of prehistoric lizards that are often referred to as 'mammal-like reptiles'. Therapsids are thought to be the ancestors of modern day mammals. Titanophoneus dentition was more mammal-like than reptilian. Its teeth included large incisors and large canines with various smaller back teeth.
