Trilobite fossil. Fossilised Paradoxides sp. trilobite. The Paradoxides group lived during the Middle Cambrian period (around 530 million years ago). It had a wide distribution, being found in regions now covered by the land masses of Europe,North America, northern Africa,Asia and Australia. Trilobites are extinct marine arthropods with a hard, segmented shell that is divided into 3 sections. Most were bottom dwellers, feeding on organic sediment on the ocean floor or by catching their own prey. Many trilobites could roll themselves into a ball when threatened, ensuring that only the hard shell was exposed to attackers. Found in Morocco | |
