Eve's footprints. Cast of fossilised footprints made by an early modern human (Homo sapiens) about 117,000 years ago. The prints were formed in wet sand by a small person, thought to have been a female, walking downhill. Due to their location and the period they date from it is possible that they were made by the most recent common ancestor of all humans alive today. The woman, named Eve,was not the only woman alive, but the only one with an unbroken line of daughters to this day.
