Grimaldi skeletons. Fossilised "Grimaldi" skeletons, human remains approximately 30,000 years old. These humans were originally thought to have produced descendents which migrated through Europe into Africa, where they evolved into Homo sapiens. They were later re-classified as contemporaries of the late Palaeolithic Cro- Magnon hominids (early humans). Either or both of the Grimaldi and Cro-Magnon races may have displaced Neanderthals (Homo neanderthalensis),which were common in Europe at this time | |
