Homo erectus,or erect man,lived between roughly 1.8-0.3 million years ago and originated in Africa. They were the first humans to leave Africa,reaching Asia and possibly southern Europe. H. erectus had prominent brow ridges and a projecting face. This skull,dated at 1.6 million years old,is part of a skeleton that was found in Nariokotome in Kenya in 1984. It is in an exhibition by Nordstar and was photographed at the Naturkundemuseum in Stuttgart,Germany | |
