Anhydrite. Needle-shaped crystals of anhydrite (calcium sulphate). This is the most common natural form of anhydrite. Calcium sulphate is found in two mineral forms:- anhydrite and gypsum. Anhydrite occurs in chemical sedimentary rocks created in a hot climate, and is formed by precipitation of salts from sea water. It is often to be found with gypsum, limestone and various sea salts. Anhydrite is used to make sulphuric acid and is used in the paper industry as a filler. This sample of anhydrite was found in Spain | |
