They are fleeing Hurricane Ivan,which hit land near Gulf Shores,Alabama in the early hours of 16 September 2004. At the time it hit,it was classified as a category 4 hurricane,with winds of 210 kilometres per hour. The winds killed 25 people,destroyed buildings,brought down power lines and spawned tornadoes.
