Fog in a valley. Fog forms when a body of warm and moist air contacts cold air. As cold air can carry less water vapour than warm air,the vapour condenses to water droplets. Valley fog is a type of advection fog, which occurs when warm, moist air moves into a cold environment,or cold air moves into a warm environment. Cold air drains into the valleys, condensing the water vapour within them. Fog on roads seriously reduces visibility, and can make driving conditions hazardous.
