Mist over a coastal dune forest at dawn. Mist is a light form of fog, water that has condensed from the air near the ground. It can be considered a low-lying cloud. Mist will form overnight as the ground cools, especially with clear skies overhead or a nearby source of moisture, such as an ocean. The mist will disperse as the Sun heats it up. The water can help sustain ecosystems such as this coastal dune forest,an ecosystem based on the vegetation that is found on coastal sand dunes.
