Three copper age axes from Europe. The copper age broadly spans from 4500BC to 2500BC in Eastern Europe and represents the dawn of the age of metals. Three axes 1) A copper shafthole axe late copper age 2) A copper shafthole combination axe/adze of the middle copper age 3) A copper flat axe or celt of the early copper age. Though the copper age is the earliest of the metal working ages, there was considerable sopistication in the use and production of such tools. The progression of such metal technology is not simple from the design standpoint and often reflects the availability of raw material and local custom more than any limits of design sophistication in the prehistoric mind | |
