Aristole from Munster's 1544 edition of the "Cosmographia". One of the earliest European portraits after antiquity. Aristotle (384-322BC) was an Athenian Philosopher and founder of logic. He studied under Plato as an orphan,and after Plato's death returned to Macedon to become tutor to the young Alexander the Great. A first class naturalist,he was fascinated by the task of classifying animal species and arranging them in hierarchies.
