Photograph of the full moon by the British astronomer and physicist Warren de la Rue (1815-1819). This image formed part of a stereo pair. He was a a pioneer of celestial photography and had perfected the technique of making stereoscopic photographs of the Sun and moon. He invented the photoheliograph to map the Sun's surface photographically. He was elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1850 and became President of the Royal Astronomical Society | |
