Antarctic sled dogs. Sled dogs in harness at a camp in Antarctica during the British Antarctic Expedition (1910-1913). The expedition arrived in Antarctica on 4 January 1911 on board the Terra Nova with over 30 dogs (31 Siberian,2 Eskimo). Also known as the Terra Nova Expedition,the primary expedition objectives were scientific. Led by Robert Falcon Scott,a shore party of 33 spent two seasons exploring on and around the Ross Ice Shelf.
