Mercury in Ptolemy's Almagest (1515). The 'Almagest' is a famous compendium authored by the 2nd century AD Greek astronomer Ptolemy. It summarised the learning of the Ancient Greeks,and was the basis of much of the astronomy and science of medieval Europe until the time of Copernicus (1543).
