Neck of Comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko as seen from the orbiting spacecraft Rosetta. 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko is around 3.5 by 4 kilometres, consisting of two lobes connected by the Hapi 'neck' region (smooth area at lower left). At centre and right is the rough Anuket area, part of the comet's smaller lobe. The European Space Agency's Rosetta spacecraft was launched in March 2004 and entered orbit around the comet on 6 August 2014. It carried instruments and a lander to map and study the comet's surface and core. Image obtained on 15 September 2014,at a distance of around 26 kilometres.
