| Investigating weight bouncing on spring. Apparatus used to investigate the effect of damping on spring oscillations. Here,a weight is bounced on a spring with a datalogging laptop and ultrasonic motion sensor set up in line with the bounce underneath to produce a displacement graph. Usually the results produce a sine curve. However,here a small piece of card (white) is attached horizontally to the bottom of the weight to act as air resistance,giving a small amount of damping.
