New Horizons map of the surface of Charon,Pluto's largest moon. This is a cylindrical projection with zero longitude (the Pluto-facing direction) at centre. The relative lack of craters across the surface suggests recent geologic activity on the moon. New Horizons has spent nine and a half years travelling the nearly five billion kilometres to Pluto. Images obtained by the spacecraft's Long Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI) between 7th and 14th July 2015 | |
