Bladder radiotherapy. Patient in a hospital radiotherapy department undergoing treatment for bladder cancer. He is lying under a linear accelerator (LINAC),below the gantry, the part of the machine that will emit high-energy X-ray radiation. Lasers are being used to line the patient up in the correct position. The radiation will be focused on the tumour site, and used to disrupt and ultimately kill the cancer cells. Bladder cancers are usually carcinomas that arise in the internal lining of the bladder. The prognosis is good if the tumour is diagnosed early | |
