Gas-pressurised triggered water barrier. Researcher being soaked by water bursting out of a water barrier after being triggered to escape during tests in the 1970s. Such systems were developed for use to extinguish fires. The flames of a fire would trigger a charge that would disrupt a diaphragm barrier, leading to a release of water under pressure. This water would extinguish the fire. This research was carried out by what is today the UK's Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL) | |
