Latrobe moved to Philadelphia,USA,in around 1798,submitting papers to the American Philosophical Society describing his observations in geology and natural history. This artwork is part of a series that was previously attributed to Philadelphia-resident US botanist,naturalist and physician Benjamin Smith Barton (1766-1815),who published a memoir on the rattlesnake in 1796,and exhibited a set of drawings in 1802 | |
