Dolphinfish from Drake's voyages. 16th-century illustration of a commmon dolphinfish (Coryphaena hippurus) observed during a voyage by English corsair Sir Francis Drake in 1586. This fish is also called dorado and mahimahi. Drake's men described it as 'excellent sweet to be eaten'. This image is part of a larger map (see C023/8620) of the attack by Drake's fleet on Saint Augustine on 28-29 May 1586,during his 1585-6 voyage to the West Indies.
