Dayton-Wright Racer. Engineers,owners and employee of the Dayton-Wright Company (formed 1917) standing on the wings of their Dayton-Wright Racer (1920) aircraft. This monoplane,designed by Milton C. Baumann,had solid balsa wood wings. It also had an enclosed cockpit and retractable landing gear. It was a racing airplane (top speed of 306 kilometres per hour),and participated in the 1920 Gordon Bennett Cup air race (flown by Howard Rinehart). It had a wingspan of 6.45 metres.
