Auguste Ambroise Tardieu (1818-1879),French forensic physician and toxicologist. Tardieu was one of the most famous and eminent forensic medical doctors of the mid-19th century. He was consulted for thousands of criminal cases and wrote numerous books and reference works on the subject. Positions he held included President of the French Academy of Medicine,as well as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Professor of Legal Medicine at the University of Paris.
