Robert Allan Phillips (1906-1976),US physician and medical researcher. Phillips worked at a Navy Lieutenant at the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research during World War II. He developed a method for assessing fluid levels in wounded soldiers. After the war,he carried out studies of cholera,noting that dehydration was the main cause of death. He and others developed effective rehydration techniques that saved millions of lives. He was awarded the Albert Lasker Award for Clinical Medical Research in 1967 for his work on reducing the death rate in cholera.
