Xenocrates of Chalcedon (c.396–c.314 BC),Ancient Greek philosopher. Xenocrates was the third leader (339 BC to 314 BC) of the Academy,founded by Plato in Athens. he leaders of an academy or school of philosophy was known as a scholarch. Xenocrates primarily wrote and lectured on metaphysics and ethics. He also wrote a book on numbers,his theory of numbers,and geometry. In epistemology,he distinguished knowledge,sensation and opinion. In metaphysics,he discussed divine power and the nature of the gods,and considered the soul to be a self-moving number.
