Comet of 1664-5. Historical illustrations of the comet seen in the night sky in November 1664. By December this was one of the brightest comets of the time,seen all across Europe and reported in many publications. It was seen again in January 1665,and was last seen in March 1665. Modern astronomers have designated the 1664-5 comet as C/1664 W1. These observations are dated 18 December,14-24 December,and 8-18 December.
