Electron spin observations,IBM research. IBM scientists Matthias Walser and Gian Salis,part of a team at at IBM Research-Zurich and ETH Zurich who observed how electron spins move within a semiconductor channel. The electron orientations synchronously rotate along the channel,extending the spin lifetime of the electrons. This may have potential applications in electronic devices that are smaller and more energy efficient. The findings were published in the 12 August 2012 online edition of Nature Physics.
