Lawrence Rogers Blinks (1900-1989),US marine biologist,electrophysiologist,and photosynthesis researcher. Blinks obtained his doctorate in 1926 from Harvard,and then carried out research at the Bermuda Biological Laboratory with Winthrop Osterhout. He carried out detailed studies of the electrophysiology of algae,work that laid the foundations for the work that led to the award of the Nobel Prize to Hodgkin and Huxley in 1963. Blinks then worked on early photosynthesis research in the 1930s. From 1943 to 1965,Blinks was Director of the Hopkins Marine Station,California,USA. Photographed in 1927,in Bermuda |
